This lesson teaches the student advanced access techniques where the removal and reinstallation of various interior panels, trim panels, moldings, or body panels are involved. There are alot of hidden screws and fasteners in todays modern vehicles, in this lesson we show you the proper tools and techniques to find the fasteners and remove these panels, as well as tips to avoid any type of damage. We go over the removal and reinstallation process of various panels of the vehicle, ( hood, hood liner, hood wiring, trunk lid, trunk lid liner, trunk lid wiring, trunk liner, door panels, side mirrors, weather striping, head liner, sun visors, dome lights, seat belts, sunroof motor track assembly) in order to give you an idea of what is involved in the removal and installation of these components and the time it takes to complete the process.

  • Lesson: 9 Body Line Repair
  • Lesson Length: 33 minutes

This lesson  teaches the student the theory behind the structural purpose of body lines in vehicle panels, and the challenges that presents to the pdr technician, the different types of body lines and the process involved in restoring the body line to predamaged condition. We show you the easiest way to put a dent on a body line in your practice hood and then teach the tools, lighting position, techniques and practice exercises involved in removing it.

  • Lesson 10: Removing a Crease
  • Lesson Length: 52 minutes

This lesson teaches the student the theory of the physics and process involved in manipulating the metal to remove a crease from a panel. We show you examples of the easiest way to put a crease in your practice panel and then teach the tools, lighting position, techniques and practice exercises involved in removing it. In the lesson we give you real world examples of crease removals from accessing the crease, knocking down crowns and working the crease out, to the best tools to choose for the job. We teach you about relieving stress from the panel in order to allow the dent to release and various ways to access the dents.

  • Lesson 11: Removing a Crown
  • Lesson Length: 56 minutes

This lesson teaches the student the theory of the physics and process involved in manipulating the metal when knocking down the crown of a dent, and how it relieves stress in the panel and allows for the low part of the dent to be worked up. We teach you techniques from applying heat to cause the molecules in the metal to move, using a crown slapper to to knock down large areas of crown, to using a small tap down for small crowns.

  • Lesson 12: Advanced Glue Pulling
  • Lesson Length: 1 hour 2 minutes

This lesson teaches the student more advanced techniques used for glue pulling.

  • Lesson 13: Complex Dent Repair
  • Lesson Length: 57 minutes

This lesson teaches the student how to logically approach the task of removing a complex dent. A complex dent is a dent with multiple types of dents together to create one large damaged area. The student learns how to work through the process knocking down crowns in order to relieve stress in the panel in order to start working the low dents up while moving across the panel removing the crease in order to begin to  restore a body line.

  • Lesson 14: Hail Damage Considerations
  • Lesson Length: 35 minutes

This lesson teaches the student how to write an accurate pdr hail damage estimate. With hail damage repair you are most likely going to be working with an insurance company, as such you will be using a standard hail damage price matrix chart so you don’t want to miss anything. We teach you how to properly view the vehicle under the proper lighting source in order to see all of the dents to get a correct count on the number, size, and location of the dents. We show you how to mark each dent first then tally them after, while differentiating between prior door dings and fresh hail damage. The key to a good estimate is to not miss any dents or damage in the estimate process, this is where you make your money, any missed dents or damage is time and money lost on the repair job. We teach you about up charges to the matrix pricing for aluminum panels, over sized dents, double walled panels, roof repairs on vans, mini vans, suvs, extended cab trucks, corrosion protection, where to get pricing for remove and reinstall access. We teach you how to make the determination if part of the repair is not worth the time vs results and needs to be sent out for traditional bodyshop repair and paint. We also explain in detail the standard hail damage size and price matrix chart.

  • Bonus Lesson 15: Extreme Dent Repair
  • Lesson Length: 1 hour 10 minutes

This lesson teaches the student how to logically approach the task of removing an extreme dent. An extreme dent is a dent that would be considered as on the outer limit of what can be repaired using pdr techniques. Most pdr technicians shy away from these types of repairs because they are very  technical and time consuming, but if you can master this process it makes the smaller dents that much easier and faster for you.

  • Upon completion of this course the student will receive a (downloadable / printable) certificate of completion from PDR Training Online.
